Laxminarayan Devsthan Trust

Construction of the Laxminarayan Mandir commenced in 1905 under the guidance of Seth Bachchrajji. On 20th January 1907, the Laxminarayan idols were instituted.

In 1909, the Laxminarayan Devsthan Trust took over the reins of the construction of the temple.

On 17th July 1928, under the inspiration of Jamnalalji, Acharya Vinobha Bhave led Harijans inside the Mandir. A landmark in our social development, the Laxminarayan Mandir was the first Mandir open to Harijans.

Gandhiji visited the temple before leaving for Mumbai to begin his “Quit India Movement”.

The uniqueness of the temple is that all the idols inside were not adorned with gold, silver or gems but with plain khadi.
